Duquesne has a well established music therapy program. I'm sorry, but I don't think "tiers" apply to this.

University of Miami (Florida school) has a strong graduate music therapy program.

are there any in cali by any chance? preferably socal

Cal State Northridge and Chapman both have music therapy. CSUN's voice
dept is a little better than Chapmans.

that sounds great! How does CSUN's music dept for music therapy and voice compare to other schools? what would you say? tier 1,2, or 3?

University of Cincinnati ( Cincinnati's conservatory of Music) is VERY good and hard to get into. Peabody Conservatory, Carnegie Mellon for Musical Theater. There are loads of them.

I have to ask about the "tier" thing here. The OP has brought that into the discussion several times. I do not think it applies to this music therapy. For example, Duquesne has a well established music therapy program. It is hard to get into. BUT the university itself is not highly competitive. A school like Juilliard, or Curtis would certainly be considered top notch for vocal performance, but neither offers music therapy. What exactly is the OP looking for...a highly competitive vocal performance school, or a well established music therapy program. They may not go together. That is why, in my first reply, I said I didn't think "tiers" applied. Also, unlike colleges and universities, USNews doesn't rank music performance programs...thank goodness.

hi thumper.. thanks for your reply...

I'm looking at EITHER music therapy or vocal performance...actually, I'm an international student trying to look for a school in the US, so I'm not very sure which majour would be better for me... probably music therapy is more lucrative... but I majoured in voice here for undergrad.. what is your op on it?

I'd however like to stay in Cali... but i'll give my shot at some schools back east... so in that case... which majour would you select me to take? and if so, which schools would be best in EITHER voice OR therapy?
