I'm lost--Am I being completely unrealistic?

Hi, I am struggling through this admissions process and trying to figure out my chances at ultra selective schools. I know that I need some safeties, but I'm having a hard time lowering my standards. I would really appreciate it if you took a minute to look at my stats and advise me about my chances at...
Yale (dreamy sigh), Swarthmore, Brown, Dartmouth, Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan

I am a female, white, public high school junior
GPA: Until last semester I had an unweighted GPA of 4.0 forever, but I got a B in Honors Chem last semester and I probably will this semester too. It will be weighted on my GPA though.
APs: 1 sophomore year, 2 junior year, 6 senior year, lots of "honors" classes every year
SATs: I won't take them until March, but I got a 222 on the PSATs so I'll hopefully be National Merit on that at least

Extracurriculars:
Environmental Club-President
Interact Club-Co-President
CSF-Treasurer
FBLA-Incentives Director, Chair of News committee
Co-Chair of Special Education Relations committee
Co-Chair of Feed the Hungry committee
Torch Tutor

I know I was kind of wordy, but I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. Please feel free to be brutally honest :)

Thanks so much!!!

Actually I think you are totally on target. You will be more than competitive at those schools. You might add some matches though (more matchy schools similar to those are Vassar, Middlebury, Northwestern).

Thanks so much for your advice slipper1234! I had actually been looking at Vassar as well, but I'm now going to take a look at Middlebury too. I hope you have a good night!

i think ur resume is very impressive =P keep up the awsome work. u are on ur way

Anyone else have any comments? Any advice would be appreciated, I don't really want to waste my parent's money applying to schools that I don't have a chance at.

Thanks, Jaimie

Thanks shrek2004. By the way, I saw on your profile that you were accepted at Princeton--congrats!!!

you are asking the wrong question, what interests you and wha would you like to major in. once you say it will narrow down the schools we might pick

The problem (well, huge problem actually) is that I don't know what I want to major in or do with my life. I am interested in being a doctor, but I hate chem so I don't think that would work out. Possibly a lawyer or a college president??? I am actually hoping to explore my interests at college and maybe gain a better idea of where I am heading in life.

A good liberal arts school is perfect for almost everything, so no worries! Those are all great schools, honestly my list would be almost the exact same!

Any other ideas on chances or how to make myself more competitive? Also, any awards that can be applied for?

Good luck to everyone with all their college apps!

Feel free to post your own questions on this thread too.

I have a problem with your notion that you would be lowering your standards to look at schools less selective than Yale, etc. It's all about fit. There are many wonderful colleges out there. Don't be a prestige whore.

I don't think Jaime is saying that at all.

Be an English major, you can do anything with an english major

Jamie, your lists of ECs are amazing...your like the president/director/co-president of 4 things. Seriously, how do you find time to do all those extra curriculars and volunteer at all those places?!

kinshasa, I'm sorry you got the wrong impression about my being a "prestige whore." I don't feel at all that I would be lowering my standards to look at schools less selective than Yale, etc. I only consider prestige insofar as it will aid me in entering top graduate schools. However, in no way does this mean that I look down on any school that is not an Ivy, etc. In fact, what I was saying was that I was actively looking for schools that were not as "prestigious" as Yale, etc. There are many wonderful schools out there that don't make the Top 10 lists.

lol, thanks Blackbeltcdjunkie. Well, for starters, I don't sleep very much : ). Besides that, some of my ECs look like they require more work than they actually do. For example, CSF really doesn't do anything and most of my volunteer jobs are once-a-week things. Also, the Grand Openings, Teas, Dinners, etc. only happen once or twice a year. As for the rest, I recommend Chai tea and Tazo "Awake" Tea.

Any other opinions? Also does it look like I'm padding my application, because I heard that if you have too many things going on it can look like you're not dedicated to anything and you're just putting random things

your stats seem pretty good. im no expert here but you seem to have lots of stuff outside of school and good grades. get good SATs and maybe try some sports?
