What is the bio honors program? Do you mean Dean’s scholars?

If you are considering Dean’s Scholars, I’d like to point out that you should reflect on why you want to apply and enter, and your answer should not be ‘because i’ve always been honors.’

If it’s for research, there’s another program that can help you with that, FRI: [College of Natural Sciences | Freshman Research Initiative](http://cns.utexas.edu/current_students/research/freshman_research_initiative/)

Often, as a Dean’s Scholar you are required to take the ‘Honors’ version of the core class, which limits your choices of professors (Often, only one), and this may not be the best professor for the course (e.g. the ‘Normal’ professors are more engaging). The trade off here is that your degree in the upper-division courses isn’t as strict as the ‘normal’ degrees. Also, keep in mind honors here does not get you extra GPA points.

If these points don’t resonate with you, by all means, apply!
