Okay, I know it's a really big stretch. I'm still a sophomore in high school, but it's something I'm trying to achieve. I already had people say I can't be one, and they were pretty serious. No matter, I'm still going to go or it.

I'm taking an elective next year that helps me with the language of medicine, which will be beneficial for me. However, I do have to drop an elective. Which is my language elective. Is a language important for being a surgeon?
I've heard from my French teacher that a languge helps you get into better colleges. And my mom said it would really help if I wanted to be a surgeon. I'm in French three right now. Next year, if I don't drop it, I'll be in IB French one.
I'm already bi-langual. My first language was Tagalog, but I feel like since it's not known as well as Spanish or French, it won't be considered as much when I apply for a college.

I would stick with the language class not the medical terminology class. The terms you learn in high school will not help you significantly in medical school. Knowing extra languages is very useful in medicine. There is really no way to know if you are cut out for surgery at this point, so I would ignore the haters and focus on working hard.

If you want to become a doctor and feel you have a passion to help people, then keep your head down, work hard and it will happen. You will always have people that will discourage you. The key is to doing what you believe in and surround yourself with people that have the same goals. Stay with the language class, that way when you get into to college you can take more science courses.

Most of the classes you take in high school that specifies in a certain field will never help you in such fields in the future. It probably won’t even help that much for college either. I don’t know how a second language (Third language in your case, I have a few friends who speak Tagalog, that’s awesome!) will exactly help in Med School, but colleges definitely do like to see that you’ve taken a language course.
