I'm screwed.

A college is requesting for previous colleges i attended. I told them i enrolled into a school but i only put a housing deposit and decided not to attend. Which isn't true. I did very poorly in my last college for the first semester. So i dropped out hoping to start college again fresh. If they get into the clearinghouse and find out i was lying it would be disastorous. I wanted to know what the real penalties are. I don't like being caught so i'd rather come clean and speak to them and send my very poor transcript. Anyone have a helpful opinion?

The college that is requesting the information, have you been accepted there or have you just applied?

i’ve been accepted

Your other thread has the penalties. Come clean with them.

Yes, you need to fess up. Tell them the absolute truth about everything, why you did so poorly, why you didn’t tell them in the first place. You will feel so much better.

Be prepared to demonstrate that you understand why things went so wrong before, and what changes you’ve made.

The truth shall set you free!

maturity & integrity could be seen as bonus points. If not this time (which I hope is not the case for you) be sure to exercise it next go round.

I’ve known others who got the boot for bombing out (too young & too much fun) freshman year & then were accepted at other schools of high caliber at a later date.
Keep your chin up, people make mistakes but hopefully have learned the lesson. Good luck.

tell them that you did poorly, but more importantly, tell them how you have been proactive about it, (gotten a tutor) etc. Your college will like that you have taken action on your situation

I agree with the above. You need to confess. They will always find out! There are many schools that will allow you to have a fresh beginning without lying to them. I actually wouldn’t consider lying as a “fresh start”!!
Just do it the right way and you will feel good inside and out!
