<p>I want to go to a program this summer, but financial aid is very sparingly given. There is a scholarship, full ride- the catch, it's only offered to minority students.</p>
<p>I'm a caucasian female.</p>
<p>Why the hell can't anything be based of socio-economic? This scholarship is basicially saying we'll give a full-ride to a rich black/Mexican/Native American kid, but not to a poorer white kid.</p>

<p>Yes...there are advantages/disadvantages of all groups, pros/cons of everything...must I say it?</p>
<p>Although, I must admit some groups usually reap more benefits...but minorities aren't one of them except in certain scenarios.</p>

<p>Actually the program is fairly good, just underfunded.</p>
<p>Well, Asian students can't get it either so it's not just Caucasians. Asians probably have to go through both racism and no benefits for being a minority, so they have it worse than Caucasians in my opinion.</p>
<p>I'm sorry though, that really sucks. The program is probably looking to attract more racial diversity rather than socioeconomic.</p>

<p>i agree. economic status shold be the basis for scholarships/aid. a poor white kid is in the same boat as a poor black or hispanic</p>

<p>Yep. I'm working on that part. My only problem is I can't really get a job around here. I have to have a job in biking distance, but I can't have one too near my house due to a complex situation, and every place that will hire me is either too close, or too far away.</p>
<p>I don't like the scholarships u have to send 2 recs, is asking for TWO more recs</p>
<p>what I do is just make copies of old recs I have and send them</p>
