<p>While NYU is a great school that I'm applying to, it's not a top school. NYU is where it is on the US News list because of the number of applications it receives due to the fact that IT'S IN NEW YORK! If NYU was in Kansas, it would not be anywhere near #34, probably #50ish.</p>

NYU is at least a generation away from being compared to the ivies, w/ the notable exception of the stern school</p>
<p>Hmm, but the fact is the admission rate for the year 2008 is 24% and is one of the most selective schools in USA. Just look at the number of posts! When you go internationally, people would know NYU rather than U of ND or Vanderbilt.</p>
