sparknoted is amazing!!! I barely read anything of "The Odyssey". I got a C on the test, but idc. I had more important things at the time (really I did lol).

You have twelve days, you're lucky. I'm down to eight days, I have two books to read, an essay to write, 70 pages to read in another book, questions to answer for that book, I have to create a two minute lab to do in front of my class on the first day of school and I have another paper to write. I haven't started.

... still working on my Civics essay ...

Represent! I Sparknoted The Odyssey as well, not because I hated the book (although I did), but because I hated my English teacher. She would always make comments about Sparknotes and look at me, and I never raised my hand once during Odyssey discussion. I never had anything worse than an A in English in my life, until she started hating me and screwing with my grade, so I said **** you to her (not literally) and just hung up the towel in April.

If it is any consolation, you're certainly not alone.

My school starts tomorrow. I read Crime and Punishment and The Stranger yesterday and did the work (paragraphs of plot, etc) today. Today, I also went shopping for supplies, and read Of Mice and Men and Oedipus Rex and just completed the assignments for that.

Before tomorrow morning, I have to become familiar with a great deal of Greek mythology and read 3 related books, read a book in Spanish and write summarizing journals for each chapter, write two almost final essays to the UC prompts, and update/add to a 15-page portfolio of my academics.

I probably should have done this earlier, too...O__O

I have a funny feeling I will be making a similar post a week from tomorrow.

Sadly, the teacher does not check the actual content - rather, he checks for where you placed your name on the paper, the font size, the font type, the margins, and whatnot. Unfortunately, I was too busy contemplating n-dimensional space while we were reading the 1st book of the Illiad, so I don't even know a third of the story.
[/quote]
Sounds like my English teacher last year, but in addition to her extreme nit-pickiness on everything other than content, then she would also make the most illogical criticisms of the content and express them with b!tchy comments on the margins in large pink writing.

Yay! This thread is so...ME! I started Ap Bio summer work with only two weeks to go. I'm working on two chapters a night... not working so well. I get distracted very easily.

^^^ lol I know how you feel!!! The only difference is that it's flvs online so I can screw up my whole GPA. I'm a few weeks ahead, but I haven't been writing down my vocab so I need to go back and write the vocab which will take about an hour and then I need to get a weeks worth of work done today. I'm gonna start at about 2 or 3 lol.

Trust me, u ain't better than me in terms of procrastination! take that as an inspiration and get to work! (go to the Cafe if u don't believe me!)

^^^ I hate Greek mythology. At least Edith Hamilton's Mythology. AHHHHHHHHH Wanted to tear my eyes out of it's socket. NEVER READ THAT BOOK EVER!!!! JUST READ SPARKNOTES!!!! ....bad memories....

I like that book...

For me, it's like inertia. A person at rest (not working) will stay at rest unless an outside force (teacher, parent) acts upon him/her. A person in motion (working) will stay in motion, etc. I think phdcomics used a similar idea somewhere.

Often, I find that the most difficult thing about completing assignments is convincing myself to start.

i digress to point out...

CLIFF'S NOTES > SPARKNOTES

July 25th, wow, sparknote's free though, and crime and punishment was a killer, the characters were mostly insane and babbling their heads off...

Crime and punishemnt must be a popular summer assignment, I have to write several long essays on it :( and start that math assignment....

July 25th? ouch. Luckily, I still have a few weeks-I don't start until Sept. 4th. Btw, I totally agree with whoever said they hated Edith Hamilton's Mythology. My summer assignments include: reading Crime & Punishment (finished) and reading the Fountainhead (haven't yet started). Really not too terrible, and considering the majority of the class will not have finished either, I figure I'm doing just fine.

word, proletariat2. when i actually get going i GO but until then...yikes.
i have this whole big to-do list for august that still has pleeeennnnty to go. somehow i think that those college essays i was going to do this month may not happen...

Whoever says they actually like Edith Hamilton's Mythology is crazy!!!! It's written horribly!!!!!! I would never read that book again except for a reference to Greek, Roman, or Norse mythology.

hmmmmm^.....

Just do it. Don't worry, you'll survive.

"I can't believe I have oh... 3 weeks and 2 days until school starts and I'm only halfway done with my summer assignments. Grr."

you think thats bad?
I did pretty much all of my summer work on the last day of summer and stayed up until 4 am :)
