Are people who have not been born in the US but in a European/Asian country, and came here in perhaps 1st or second grade get put in a separate "pool" of applicants? I was wondering about this question for a while now. Does the immigrant status make a difference (assuming you get citizenship by the time you apply and everything)?

I think it makes more of an impact if you’re not a US citizen but a permanent resident. If you write essays about your experiences, it may help too.
