What is the impact of being a semifinalist on the PSAT on college admissions? Do they care? And how much do they care? IF not qualifying for being a semifinalist but still pulling off a 2310 on the real SAT, does that offset the disadvantage for not qualifying for the national merit semi finalist?

Being a semi-finalist will matter at some schools more than others. There are some schools that offer full scholarships to finalists. (Almost all semifinalists go on to become finalists.) For schools like Princeton and Harvard, it won't matter much. Not qualifying won't matter much either. If you have good scores, they will look at that. PSAT scores are never reported to colleges so they don't even know if you took it. Not qualifying will not hurt you.

I agree with shennie. It is pretty much something you can list in the awards section of the app.
