Impact of upward trend?

Suppose I have a HS GPA of 3.55-3.6UW and 4.3W.

Also suppose that I have a Sophmore/Junior/Senior GPA of 3.85UW and 4.6W.
(I was a poor Freshman student)

I included an essay describing this change but how do you think big colleges will see it? Schools such as: Cornell, U of Chicago, Boston College.

Do you think they'll consider my overall gpa or my huge upward trend?

Describe in detail!

Thanks!!!

Bump due to inactivity.

Bumpity bump!

So I guess no one cares about upward trends. Bump.

They do like to see the upward trend, if you are not performing at a high level all throughout high school. Unless you have a good reason, don’t bother explaining the trend.

Are you really going to waste your essay justifying your scores?
Granted, I screwed up my freshman and sophomore years but whatever.
I don’t know what they consider, probably overrall, rank, gpa and course load.

No no, my essay isn’t like that. Sorry for the misconception. I have a short write in the “additional information” section that has to do with influences and changes in ways of thinking. It’s not blunt or anything like that.
