VA passed the Governor's Higher Ed legislation and the W&M President has indicated that UVa and W&M had to indicate that they would take more in-state graduates as part of the legislative session. William & Mary - General Assembly update (March 2011), including UVa adding 1,000 undergraduates.

Does this affect this year's UVa admission decisions? If you are on the bubble, will this make any difference?

I believe they also got some extra funding for the new student slots. Not a terrible deal considering. I like how the W&M president communicates-- just telling it like it is.

In an earlier article on the same subject it was stated that the additional admits will be of the same mix of instate/oos students UVa currently maintains.

Carnivore, I believe the 1000 is over the next 4 to 5 years. If I remember correctly, Dean J said UVA would be adding around 130 (?) students for this coming year. Anybody else can correct me if I’m wrong.
