I just got 3 5s on my AP tests (psych, apush, and Lang).
Do colleges really care about this? Should I bother sending it?
Any insight would be helpful.
They are not used in admissions. They are to get college credit, so you don’t have to take as many courses in college to graduate. Typically you will send in your AP scores to the university AFTER you are admitted and have chosen that university and enrolled. Then they will tell you what courses those satisfy, so you don’t have to take those same subjects again in college to get your degree.
For example, my daughter just got 60 credit hours for her 15 APs at her university, so she’s basically starting off a junior before ever taking a class at college. She can choose to graduate in less than four years and save money that way, or she can select a couple of minors, double major, travel abroad a year, etc. AP credits are used like this. However, not all colleges give credit for AP exams, even if you score a 5 – they want you to take all of their courses instead.
^^ I agree, except I would ALSO send them in. Can’t hurt with those scores. My older brother sent in his scores (because they were 5’s) and the admissions officer for some schools said it does look impressive to adcoms.
