Importance of AP tests?

This may sound like an unusual question but what is the importance of taking the AP test after taking an AP course?

My high school does not require you to take the AP test and as a Junior I am taking 5 AP classes... Should I take all 5 AP tests?

Does a college frown upon a student who takes AP courses but does not prove his/her grasp of the material by taking the AP test? Does a college really think of an AP test as anything more than a means for a student to obtain credit? If college credit is not needed for the course should you still take the AP test? For instance: a student plans on taking a language course in college yet still took the AP Spanish course, should he take the AP test?

Sorry for all the questions and if I unintentionally came across as one who thinks the AP tests are useless, I really don't. I was just curious and it might affect how I study for the AP tests that I want / need to take versus those that I don't feel strongly about. Thanks for any advice.

ap exams are VERY important for many reasons.
