As I am writing the essays and such for the accelerated programs, I am curious the extent to which essays can help. Is the essay process different from the ways the regular colleges look at essays. I know for medical school, grades can keep you in the first round and the essays get you to the interview. Can a strong essay pick up for lower scores?

the essays are reallyyyyy important.

the only purpose for doing med related ecs is to show them that youre interested in medicine, right?

well, your essay can do that too, so it can make up for the lack of med related ecs (only to some extent..you still need at least a little).

yeah...i think that they separate YOU from other applicants because you'll get the chance to say whatever you want.

i'm having trouble stringing together my argument because the argment can't really be too orginal for going into medicine. People essentially say the same things...

Essays are definitely an important part of your application, that sets you apart from countless other candidates with similar EC's and academics.

That said, essays are a fundamentally more important for these programs, realize that they are accepting you to medical school, and the personal statement is extremely crucial for a medical school application. I would say, an essay will definitely make or break your app (assuming your other stats are atleast the median for the program)
