<p>What are the chances in a situation in which an applicant has good but not amazing grades and test scores (figure 3.8 gpa, 2000 SAT) but great ECs (ed-in-chief school paper, student gov president, social action club president, captain of varsity sport...)</p>
<p>Given that the average person’s chance is under 7%, what more can one add? I’d say your SAT makes you a less likely admitee however.</p>
<p>Admissions Directors at all selective colleges (Yale included) repeatedly say that your transcript, course rigor, and test scores are the most important part of an application. Having great EC’s, while nice, is not going to outweigh your 2000 SAT. If you are sophomore or junior, I would take the test again, or try the ACT.</p>
