Importance of Mid-Year Grades

I am a current high school senior and I am a little bit worried about my mid-year grades...please help!

I am currently taking 4 AP courses (Spanish, Biology, Macroeconomics, & Calculus AB) and an Honors English course and have A's/B+'s in all except for AP Calc in which i have a D+. I am planning on withdrawling from this course at the end of the marking period (this is only the first mp of this three mp class). How will this look on my mid-year transcript/ affect my admissions decision? Is it worth sticking it out?

Some other helpful info may be:
GPA 3.65
ACT 28
Senior year courses already listed with 5 other honors courses and AP European History through freshman-junior year.
Transferred high schools after sophomore year in order to take a more rigorous academic schedule
Basketball player, Rowed for 2 years, Spanish Honor Society, Volunteer

Schools I've applied to:
Penn State
University of Michigan
VA Tech
Syracuse
Clemson

Is it worth sticking it out in AP Calc and receiving a worse grade than if I switch to regular Calculus I and get a higher grade?

id say do whichever makes you more comfortable because you’re probably in at all these except michigan maybe?

I was recently deferred Early Action from michigan so we’ll see. thanks for the input!

I’m in a similar situation, except with a C+ in Calculus. I am not withdrawing, but I am worried about how this will affect me. I have A’s/A-'s in all of my other classes for the semester, and my counselor wrote on my rec that I’m just “not a math person”, but I’m hoping this doesn’t really kill me at most schools!

hopefully everything works out for us both…i know a lot of people in this predicament so we’re not alone. good luck!

Many colleges require you to notify them of any changes in your planned coursework. I suggest you do that. They will find out if you drop the class when they get your final transcript anyway, and you don’t want to be in a position where they then decide to rescind you.
