Importance of SAT scores

i was just wondering the importance of SAT scores at these colleges: Dartmouth, Pomona, Claremont Mckenna, UVA. Disregarding the rest of the applications because i feel pretty comfortable, how does a 1400 (720M, 680V) look?

SAT scores are incredibly important at Dartmouth (where I go)... arguably THE most important factor. A lot more applicants have very high GPAs than very high test scores, although many have both.

A 1400 is a very good score, obviously, and you should be fine. Particularly at Claremont McKenna.

SAT's are important, but it depends on so many other factors. In other words, they don't get you in, but they can certain get you out. A 1400 won't get you out...but your acceptance will hinge on your essay and other academic factors as well

Agreed EncomiumII. I always get the feeling that the tests "qualifies" an applicant. But then, the ECs, essays, school grades, blah blah blah, is what keeps him/her out or gets him/her in.
