importance of sat

would you say that buisiness schools (babson, bentley bryant) view the SAT and especially the math section as more important than other schools? because on naviance sat scores show more crrelation to who gets in than gpa.

First I would like to say 2 things:

 1. Change your username. Eager4college? Serious?
 2. Come back and ask a different question.

To answer your question is pointless. I will explain why:

 1. If the answer to your question is yes: it will put more pressure on you to perform better on the SAT. Once you get your SAT scores, you will only worry about whether you will get in or not.
 2. If the answer to your question is no: you will not feel much pressure to perform better on the SAT. You will still worry about whether you will get in or not.

-Either way, you will be trying your best on the SAT. Hence, whatever happens, happens. If you are dissatisfied with your score, try again.

Your next sequence of steps:

 1. Apply to the schools you want to get into.
 2. Apply to the schools that you think are safe to get into.
 3. Wait.
 4. Wait some more.
 5. Get acceptance letters
 6. Get Rejection letters :frowning:
 7. Eliminate the schools that rejected you and choose from the schools you get into.

=>Continue from there.

I’m not sure what you mean by “view sat… more than other schools.” Almost all colleges put a lot of emphases on the SATs. Also, it’s only logical that there’s a correlation between higher SATs and acceptance rate. Either way, you gotta do well on the SATs no matter what college you’re trying go to.

Eager,

 • i think your username is great
 • this is a very good question

the math score on the SAT is looked at more heavily from business schools than from liberal arts schools. so if you are only applying to business schools, you should absolutely focus on the math section. if you are going to take the SAT subject tests, take math.

business schools look at your high school math grades just as heavily (if not more heavily…) than your sat score. 4 years of classroom outweighs one Saturday of SAT, and you should take at least pre-calculus. If you are a senior and haven’t taken pre-cal, you should take it the summer before your freshman year (and tell the schools you will take it so that they know you’re willing to do extra work to get in).

i’m not entirely sure about bentley and bryant, but i KNOW babson pays equal attention to grades/sat scores as they do extracurriculars. they like to know what you do outside the classroom, what interests you, and if your interests will fit in with the interests of babson students. they love to see jobs, internships, starting clubs, captains of sports teams, student council, etc. if you think you’re grades/scores aren’t high enough, you can still get in from extracurriculars and passion for the school. also, applying ED increases chances significantly.

Hope i helped!
