Importance of Subject Tests

Hi, I am looking into engineering and/or CompSci. I will likely take math 2, chem, and likely physics.

How much would getting an 800 on all thee help my application? This is obviously very optimistic, I just want to know the best case scenario.

Also, I am getting a 670 ish on Barrons chemistry practice tests. I know the barrons are often more difficult, but what score can I expect on the test?

Thanks

It really depends on the schools you are looking at. Some admissions officers believe that subject tests are one of the best ways to predict a student’s performance in college classes, while others don’t. Getting 800s will definitely not hurt and make you seem more impressive though, but getting 790-760 won’t lead to a direct rejection either (I think that 800s are pretty common if you’re talking about the Ivies though). I’d also go with 2 tests instead of 3, and focus on really nailing those 2 instead of getting average scores in all 3. I would definitely take Math 2, but I would pick one of the sciences instead of both.
A small disclaimer that you should really take my advice (or anyone else’s on here) with a grain of salt because I don’t know you, your situation, your passions, or interests. I also have no idea what schools you are aiming for. Either way, I wish you the best of luck because if you choose to take all 3 you’re in for quite some suffering hahaha
(Also regarding Barrons difficulty, I thought that me getting 730s on Math 2 practice tests in their book meant I could get a solid 780 on test day, but I got a 700 lol. I don’t know much about chem, but be careful!!)
