<p>How important is the essay in getting the NMSC $2500 scholarship? I'm most likely not going to get a college or corporate scholarship. What is NMSC looking for when they award the $2500 scholarships?</p>
<p>No one knows. We have often tried to figure out how those one time awards are awarded. They seem to be awarded to those who had very high SAT and PSAT scores.</p>
<p>And it is also possible that the essay comes into play for these. Like @mom2collegekids stated, no one really knows.</p>
