I qualified for the USAMO this year, and did alright, receiving a 7. However that's slightly below the average score, and is sitting right at the median. Should I list the score, or simply say "USAMO qualifier" on my applications (to MIT and Caltech)? Listing "USAMO qualifier" might give them the implication my score is low, but the ambiguity also allows for a possible higher score than what I received. Essentially, is saying "USAMO qualifier" better than saying a specific 7?

Whoa. I think just saying that you qualified for that would mean a ton. After that, I don’t think they’re going to say, “this kid qualified but since his score was only a 7… it’s below average” they’re going to mark you up for being a qualifier, but not down for having a 7. Be honest.
