I'm currently a high school student in a summer science internship program at a local college. This internship program is AMAZING, it's not you're normal experience. It's not one of those crappy internships where you just watch the doctors perform research, you're doing the actual research yourself. The program is half way done, but I need to write an abstract about the research I a. performing [general information]. I sent in my first draft to my mentor, who told me to make it sound more "clinical & sophisticated". He wants me to sound more like a college student and less like a high schooler [I'm currently a rising junior]. What are some ways I can make my writing more mature [for those who have had to write a lot of science reports or abstracts]. Maybe someone could help by reading over my abstract? >.<

Go here and search for research on a similar topic as the study you’re doing and read some abstracts. That should give you an idea of the language expected.
