Hey im new and i had a question for the forum.

I really want to know how import the essay part of your application really is. Could it really make or break your application?

For example: If i wanted to get into to UCLA Econ program. I have about 3.2 GPA. I know my grades are below the average. But would a really good essay put me in? or are my grades too low that it wont make up the differences.

Same situtation, but USC... Thanks advance for all responses.

Your essay is the MOST important part. Your grades are numbers, a track record if you will, but you need to sell your story. PM me if you want a useful eHow article about this.

^^^Why not just post the article for everyone to see?

I actually have a question as well: I misspelled Delhi in my essay (I accidentally wrote Dehli.) This is the only blemish on an otherwise spectacular essay (this was the opinion of others who’ve read it, not me.) Is this really a big deal? Oddly enough, only one of the six people who read the essay noticed the error.
