Important ACT ?

How many hours/days should one study for the ACT?
Also can people post their scores and what they did to study including how long.
Thank you very much.

Um, the first time I did the ACT, I didn’t study for very long and only studied for about 3-4 hours. I got a 32.

The second time I did the ACT, I studied for about 8 hours and got a 33.

But you probably shouldn’t follow what I did because I think I was lucky.

O kk thanks for sharing your experience.

I have to add that I did not do any timed practice tests for my first try.

I do not recommend this.

You will need to do at least two timed practice tests for reading and science.

For my first ACT, I didn’t study and got a 31.
For my next one I spent most of the summer practicing, and then I got a 32 in Sept.

For my next ACT, I didn’t have time to review (college apps, other stuff), so I only had 4 hours to spend on it the 2 days before the test. I scored a 23 and 24 on reading and science respectively on the practice tests. On the real test, I ended up getting a 34.

Does 4 hours of studying mean you are going get a 34? No. Does a whole summer worth of studying mean you are going to get a 34? No. It really depends from person to person…

Anyway, best of luck.

Wongtong-Congrats on 34. I read your posts regarding studying for ACT.

My 14-year-old got a 31 on the math section and didn’t study at all. However, he’s taken quite a few math classes. He said the classes were the best preparation and studying wouldn’t have helped at all. On the rest of the ACT, he said he wished he’d paced himself a little better. Time was the biggest challenge for him. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much all.

For math pay particular attention to topics learned in Precalculus. I studied ONLY for the math section for ~5 hours the night before and raised my score from a 27 to a 33. For the other sections, especially science and reading, I did a few timed practice tests every weekend. My score improved from a 27 to a 31.
