Important ECE Question?

Question regarding my CIT admission- I received a letter saying that I could major in anything in CIT including ECE. How do I confirm my spot in ECE? When/Where/What do I have to do? I already sent in my deposit but I don't want to major in Mech. engineering, etc. When college starts- is that when I secure my spot?

Just register for the Intro to ECE course in the fall; no one actually declares a major in CIT until spring (some people even change from what they were admitted as). In addition, it’s not really so much of “confirming your spot” as in the fact that they’ll just know you were accepted as ECE and will fill in ECE spots first with those accepted as ECE. (Although, generally, in spring, they don’t turn people down who want to major in ECE - I think, so long as they do well or good enough in the intro course).

My S just graduated ECE but he came in expecting to major in Chem E. Since you don’t declare until the end of the spring semester and are required to take two Intro to Eng courses just make one ECE and don’t do poorly.
