Hi,about Temple University’s Scholarships, Am i right that all applicants who have certain SAT score and GPA will get scholarships if they apply before Mar 1? Or there is another deadline for scholarships? Or it is based on the fund of scholarships?

This is the link to this year’s info about Temple U’s freshman scholarships.
They do state on their website that to be considered for scholarships, you must apply by March 1st, it does not say first come first serve, but they do encourage student to file the FAFSA as early as possible for need-based aid.

Another great option: University of Montevallo, in Alabama

My oldest attends the University of Alabama on scholarship, but my next two, while having similar stats that would qualify them for scholarships at Alabama, don’t want to attend a school as large as the University of Alabama, but they also want to go out of state. So, they are headed to the University of Montevallo, tucked into the hills just 45 minutes southwest of Birmingham. A beautiful historic campus, wonderful staff, and cozy town.

Here is the link to their scholarship page (all but the Ambassadors scholarship are automatic):

http://www.montevallo.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/scholarships/entering-freshmen-academic/

Presidential Honors, ACT 30+, $9000 a year
Freshman Leadership, ACT 27+, $6000 a year
Academic Recognition, ACT 24+, $4500 a year
Academic Leadership, ACT 23+, GPA 3.0+, $2500 a year
Martin Luther King Scholarship, ACT 23+, GPA 3.0, amount varies

And for out of state students, out of state tuition is automatically waived with a 23 ACT or higher.

Tuition Rates, In-State, based on 30 credits a year: $10740 a year
Tuition Rates, Out-of-State, based on 30 credits a year: $22110 a year (differential waived with ACT 23+)

Room/Board: Ranges from $6544 to $9712 depending on choice of housing and meal plan

One of my students has been granted the top automatic academic scholarship, with an invitation to apply for the competitive full ride, and my other has been granted one of the other automatic academic scholarships. Combine those scholarships with the out of state waiver, and I will be paying less than $8000 a year for tuition for two students. A really great opportunity for an out of state residential college experience.

@mamag2855 @chesterton thank you . I have been searching many websites, forums and sent emails to Temple but dont have any reply .

Thanks @mom2collegekids

Do you know if there is a list of OOS merit scholarships like the link you provided above - that has various levels of scholarship and not just full ride?

My daughter is now a junior and she has good grades and I am looking for schools like Univ of South Carolina with merit aid at various levels - not just full tuition as she will not qualify for those based on needing to be in the top 10% of her class (our high school is very competitive).

I found this one today for Kuntztown (in PA) - 40% discount for OOS if they have 1,000 SAT (CR+M) and a 3.0average.

How do I find more of these??? A friend told me her son got $$ to Scranton with a 1,700 on SAT (CR+M+W) and a 90 average at our local high school. Guidance councilors either 1) do not know this stuff? or are 2) not sharing - so frustrating as there is plenty of $$ out there but not sure how to find the schools. Any help is appreciated.
