Important Policies about Forwarding

Hello,

As you all consider forwarding your applications, here are some important things to consider.

First of all- where should I forward my apps to? I would say to every school that you qualify for. Sometimes students are admitted to some partner colleges just by forwarding their apps, and having more options is never a bad thing.

Second- What do the schools that I am applying to require? You MUST research this information yourself because otherwise your app may be marked as incomplete. To do this, you go to Regular Decision Requirements and click the appropriate partner school (scroll down). A table will pop up- read it carefully, as it distinguishes between if you ranked them, if you didn't rank them, and if you weren't a finalist.

Important points that you must ask yourself for each school you are applying to RD:
1) Can I forward my QB app, or must I use the common application?
2) Are my app fees waived?
3) What materials do I need to submit in addition to my QB app?
4) Can I apply ED or EA? If so, how?
5) What are the deadlines?
6) What test scores do I have to submit, if any?

Important questions you should email each respective school that you are interested in:
1) Can I use the Common App in lieu of the QB app and still be considered for the QuestBridge process?
2) Can I submit special interest supplements like art portfolios and music samples?
3) If a supplement is not required, can I still do it?
4) Do you have CSS fee waivers available? Do you accept scanned copies of test scores? (It'll save you a bunch of money!)
5) Can I schedule an interview? (For some schools like Pomona, if you live in SoCal, you are expected to do an interview. MIT makes interviews pretty important as well).

A note about Early Decision and Early action- please consider this possibility!

Many of the QuestBridge partner colleges, especially the liberal art colleges, allow QuestBridge students to apply ED or EA. This is a great opportunity because:
A) You can take advantage of the substantial boost in admissions at some schools with applying early vs. applying regular- Amherst’s ED acceptance rate is almost triple the RD rate
B) You can finish with applications early and have a great financial aid package (probably very close to a match package) to boot to one of the best schools in the country.

To see what schools still allow you to apply ED or EA click the link as I described above. The last part of the table will answer that question for you.
