Important Question! Please answer :(

How much are summer activities considered by Columbia admission officers?! I'm a sophomore. I want to go to either a math camp or CUNY program, so please help by answering my question! >_<

The question is hard to answer because every student is different and does things differently.

When in doubt the best way to answer the question for yourself: does doing X activity make you happy/fulfilled? If the answer is yes, then do it. If the answer is no, don’t.

I actually enjoy doing math and my college application will primarily be based off math extra curricular activities. I want to know if they take summer activities into account because I would apply to a competitive CUNY program if they do. :P

There isn’t some sort of value assigned to summer programs. They can be valuable just as extracurriculars can be valuable: to flesh out your application. Generally, only free programs will really boost your app; other programs indicate little than your ability to drop a few thousand.

which mathcamp?

The mathcamp i want to attend is AwesomeMath camp.

If you get into that It’s definitely good for college, pretty prestigious
