Hmm…that doesn’t sound good at all. Shouldn’t be doing that. I’m going to share this with the team. Thanks!
I got a solicitation for college planning services to my private mailbox from a “Matt Robinson” and the person doesn’t have any posts…
what gives?
Roger,
If you are reading, I did not receive the email you mention in your original post - fwiw.
fogfog - I got the same message.
**pacnwmomof2 **and fogfog…even though the plug-in meant to stop this activity is showing as enabled it is obvious something was disconnected. The tech team has this in their queue to look at. The member in question was quickly outed and removed. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Some emails may not have gotten through for a variety of reasons - spam filters, etc. Some ISPs are particularly problematic. If yo.u have a spam folder (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo Mail), check it.
A private message from another member is unrelated to any of this. If you are getting commercial solicitations via PM, please report that to a moderator. Such activity isn’t allowed at CC.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for the email. My Twitter account was recently hacked, so when I was redirected Twitter fromCC, I assumed it was related to that incident. I logged out of cc, cleared my history and cache, and then was able to use CC again. I did not log back in, though, untilI got the email today from CC. had a little trouble finding where to reset my password, but figured it out.
Lenitus, I’m getting “logged out” every time also, both on my work computer and home computer.
also getting logged out continuously
I never received the security email (checked spam folder) and am still logged out after every visit.
QLM
I’m NOT getting logged out after every visit using either my iPad or desktop computer.
When I first joined CC, I noticed the site had an inactivity timeout. After being logged on for so long and not doing anything, the site logged me out. That’s a pretty standard security measure. A few weeks ago, I noticed that I was staying logged on no matter what I did as if someone had turned off the inactivity timeout. Now, the inactivity timeout seems to be back. Considering what’s happened with the site’s security, I’m not surprised.
SteveC, to my knowledge we’ve never had an activity timeout. If you click “keep me logged in” when you log in, you will stay logged in until you delete cookies. If you don’t click that, the login shouldn’t persist for very long after you leave; logging out is always best, particularly if using a shared computer.
My email was hacked after this incident, and spam emails were sent to any addresses in my email. I was really disappointed because a lot of the email addresses were important people… it was extremely embarrassing.
I hope all of this is under control now. It scares me that people got viruses after visiting this website.
Amplified, it’s really important to get and maintain a good antivirus program if you’re going to be online. At home, I allow my antivirus to check for updates regularly and it successfully blocked the exploit kit from last weekend. My PC at work, with an antivirus that’s updated by our corporate desktop group on a less frequent basis, got the FBI “ransom” malware a few days before.
