My son's counselor encouraged us to visit Drew, and we had mixed feelings. It's a lovely campus and clearly has some strong programs such as theater and the UN semester. However, the student body mainly comes from New Jersey, which made us worry...first, that the place might be a little too homogeneous, and second that a lot of kids would leave campus on the weekend. Also, my son is a varsity athlete and had arranged to meet with the coach of his sport. The coach (who I won't identify here) failed to show up for the meeting, and although we left several messages we have never heard from him since our visit. Very unprofessional. Can any current/former students shed more light on what Drew is like for an out-of-state student?

My D graduated from Drew last year (Class of 2011). We’re from MA, so we had some of the same concerns. But there was always a lot going on in the dorms and around campus. With regard to diversity issues, under President Weisbuch Drew made a commitment to increase minority representation on campus AND they succeeded in doing so. Don’t know what that coach’s problem is, but his behavior is certainly tacky and couldn’t possibly be helpful to Drew. We generally found people there to be very helpful and respectful.

Thanks, that is reassuring!
