improve critical reading in 2 months?

so as you can obviously tell from the title, i suffer tremendously from the reading section on the SAT. My writing and math are great according to my standards, but something went terribly wrong on the reading section.

i had the barron's sat book (not 2400, just barron's SAT). I skimmed through that a week before the test and did two practice tests.
my reading score on both tests was above 620.

then i did the sat, and i was extremely surprised by my score, which happened to be below 530.

How can i really improve my reading score, if i prep and prep for two months (possibly even three) up until my next SAT?
Please recommend any books as well, as i need the best critical reading practice questions and techniques that i can get.

I've heard that Barron's 2400 and Barron's critical reading workbook are really good.

And what about for vocabulary? I've heard Direct Hits is really good.. should i get volume 1 or volume 2? which usually has more hits?

Get both DH and RR and Hit Parade – that seems like the winner
as for the rest, practice practice and practice

Where did you hear that Barron’s was good?

i thought i read it on this website

anyone else please?

the reading comprehension is so hard to improve; my best advice is just to read and make sure you understand what the author is trying to convey (not just the plot).

For the vocab words, I recommend the sparknotes 1000 lists that you can find online.

Memorize DH and then do CR sections until your eyes bleed.

When you say practice tests, do you mean Barron’s tests or CB tests?

Barrons
Why though?

That’s the problem. Use Collegeboard practice tests and you’ll start seeing the improvement you’re looking for.
