I took the SAT in October and I got a 1530 : 800 math, 730 R+W. I am retaking the test in December solely for the purpose of raising my CR/Writing score so that I can get a better super score. Since a 730 is already pretty high, what can I do to improve my verbal score to at least a 760? I have taken all of the College Board practice tests and take practice tests every day, but I do not see myself improving. One day, I get everything right, and the next, I get 7 wrong. I don’t know how to improve.
Thank you.
You’re kind of at the spot where you’re not going to get much out of the typical testing strategy books. As I’m sure you’re figuring out, some of the score is luck of the draw – a reading you’re particularly comfortable or uncomfortable with, for example.
Concentrate on the big picture of test preparation – read widely in the weeks before the test, both fiction and nonfiction of different types. Practice and review some, but don’t overdo it. Take care of your health - exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management.
