My SAT scores are as follows:
CR/ 570
M/ 660
W/ 680
Total: 1910

As you can see, my only weak point is my CR score. My goal is mediocre as compared to most CCers, as I merely wish to acieve high 600s in all three sections. What do you suggest to quickly and dramtically improve my CR score. Thanks.

Study vocab, don't need to go crazy with studying actual words. Get used to identifying positive/negative tone of words. That's how I guess on words that I don't know, and it works nearly all of the time.

Then there's the passages. Don't read the passages for specific details, and don't skim it. Don't look at the questions first either. Instead, read the passage as if you were interested in it, as if you wanted to learn from it. It'll make it much easier, and you'll get a lot more questions right.

To improve on CR...READ! A lot! I think I read a lot between March and June even if it was in preparation for APs/SAT 2's or whatever and it paid off to a 100 point improvement(630-730) Even if the books are not that intense, but if you enjoy reading them you will be a lot more focused on SAT passages...

I strongly concur with the above poster: READ! Read books, newspapers, magazines, articles, pamphlets, and tracts, and make sure everything is at least at college level. Read the classics. Read philosophy. Read The Times. Read Nature.

With this "practice strategy" ongoing for the past decade I managed to pull off an 800 on CR w/out any particular pre-test prep. Honestly, reading won't fail you.
