Improving my ACT

I took my ACT's the September of my junior year and this was my score

Composite: 33
English: 31
Math: 36
Reading: 34
Science: 32

As you can see, I really don't need a lot of help improving math, but how can I improve my english and science scores?

My goal is to boost my ACT up to a 35. Any advice?

and also, what kind of schools could I get into with my current ACT score of 33?

That’s very good. With a 33, there is no school that is out of the question for you. You could probably get in anywhere you wanted if you just supplemented that high score with great essays, great demonstration of interest to the school, and a good list of extracurriculars.

A 33 is pretty much good anywhere with a few exceptions of course.
You can improve English and Science by practicing.
Practice practice practice.
I guarantee you will improve.

Well if you truly did get a 33, congrats. But I do find it funny that everyone on this site seems to get well in the 30’s when only 4% of the national average has a 30 or above… Hmm…

Anyway, with that being said, I scored nowhere near a 33, so I don’t know much about getting that, but I do know a lot about improving. I got my score up 4 points in just a month and a half by-

A. Taking four to five practice tests prior to the regular test (timed and all)
B. Taking a prep class every sunday night, five weeks leading up to the test.
C. Sitting in on an optional ACT Prep during my school’s seminar period.

So I would strongly advise you to do at least one of the three. However, if I got a 33 I would probably never even consider taking it again. But that’s just me.

You can get in anywhere  If I’d make a suggestion, I’d really consider UC Berkeley :)

@Alex32: Don’t forget that CC does represent some of the top percentiles of the high school (testing) population.

A 33? It would be great for pretty much every public college and “lower-tiered” private colleges. It would be an average score for Ivies, etc…

I recommend point A of Alex32’s post. Prep classes are expensive and unnecessary.
