Also, if there are any current IMSA students in this chat, could you let me know if bullying is an issue at all within the school? Of course, I’ve heard only wonderful things from the staff but there can always be some bad eggs and I’d like to know what to expect and what to avoid.
Hi! I got accepted for the class of 2022, and I just had a quick question about the placement testing for the classes to take as a sophomore.
Does anyone know what type of questions will be on the placement exam and what topics will be covered? (mainly for math)
Thanks!
This probably sounds super dorky “proud parent” but if there is a verified current or former IMSA student on this thread, I want to get my daughter a tshirt for fun Spirit Wear this summer. I am searching online and see things from Spiritshop.com. Can someone comment if that is the actual official place to buy school t-shirts and hoodies, etc? Thanks, Mom of accepted 8th grader, and no the shirt is not for me!
@CPBPHD Are you looking for IMSA spirit wear? When your daughter takes the placement tests at IMSA, there will be IMSA t-shirts etc for sale by the class club. Spirit wear is also available on orientation, move-in, and Parent Days.
From what I’ve heard from IMSA students, the placement test for math will mainly consist of:
- Algebra I (Make sure that you master this)
- Algebra II (Make sure that you know this well enough)
- Geometry
- Trigonometry
- Precalculus
- Calculus
And so on. There are two sections for the math placement test; the first section will be all of Algebra I and the second section will be above the Algebra I level, so it’s expected for you do not know some things. Hopefully, this helps you out!
I was accepted! About 7 people from my school got in (a lot applied) and about 3-4 were waitlisted.
Can any imsa student tell me if the hall placing is random? Because I want to request a hall where I know many of my friends are in, and it is right next to my brothers’ hall.
It seems that a lot of people got waitlisted this year…
I’m not an IMSA student myself, so I don’t know whether or not the hall placing is random. You should definitely email someone at IMSA if you can request a hall, as you’ll get your answer from there.
@chazhang789 congrats! hope to see you in the fall:) (last name twins!!)
@Nesryn sounds good, or we can make a group chat on snapchat, I do know that there’s also a group chat on discord. just lmk, and feel free to dm me if you have any questions or just want to chat:)
My brothers told me that the sophmore year is random hall placing, there are some girls halls that I would rather not be in lol, so i kinda want to be in 06
Yeah a ton of people were waitlisted, although everybody at my school who was waitlisted last year got in, so the chances could be higher this year. A lot of people apply just to see if they could get in
@chazhang789 Wow, I feel a little relieved cause i got waitlisted and hopefully they admit me. Also, just wondering, but are you from a school in the Naperville/Aurora area?
@brinaz03 Actually, snapchat is a pretty good idea. Would you mind sharing your username so I could add you?
And what is the name of the Discord chat?
@Nesryn my snap is itssabrinazhang. I’m not sure what the discord chat code is at the top of my head, but I will give it to you asap!
@Tandoorhut my school is from the central iillinois school. My school is pretty competitive, lots of high sat scores
Remember, they choose people from the waitlist that resemble the non-going applicant the most so it may not be a matter of who’s most qualified, they want to fill in the gap
This kid in my school, who also got wait listed, told me that apparently 40 kids have gotten wait listed this year. I don’t know if this is 100% true, but I think it is still less than the usual number of wait-listed students.
