IMSA Applicant Class of 2022

Yep, some people from my school are deciding not to go. Apparently they wasted 70 dollars to see if they’ll get in or not :slight_smile:

@Tandoorhut Any updates? I’m really hoping the rumor that 40 kids were waitlisted is true because that ups my chances a lot.

Do you guys know how to sign up for fall sports?

Everything for sports happens once you’re at school! They have a meeting for everyone interested in fall sports, then you go to smaller meetings for the individual sport. There’s nothing you need to do before you get to school

Also, I wasn’t able to find out how many got in from the waitlist, but ask someone in admin while you’re at testing if you really want to know

@BL1234 Sorry, no updates ?, but from what I’ve heard, the average number of kids that are waitpooled is between 40-60.

to all waitpooled students, keep thinking positive! it’ll get you through the long run and when that phone call finally comes in june, all of your positive thinking and hard work WILL pay off!! i have faith in you guys, you will get off that waitlist and we will all be thriving:)

@7bean3 oh I thought some fall sports started a few days earlier than the first day

any class of 2022 members, i made a snap group chat for incoming sophomores so if you wanna be in it, just dm me your snap and i’ll add you!

@brinaz03 Thank you for the support and optimism!

@brinaz03 hi! I got accepted to join the class of 2022 at imsa, and so did my friend. I am new to this website, so I don’t know how to dm you. Could you possibly teach me how?

@Tandoorhut a couple years ago 85 students were wait-pooled ,but I’ve heard that every year it’s gotten smaller.

@cmo183 of course! when you scroll all the way to the top, on the upper right hand corner there should be something that looks like an envelope, or mail symbol. click on it, and it should give you another tiny box. click “new message” and you can just send it to me:)

Hey guys, could anyone tell me about the math placement test and the difficulty of it? I don’t want to do bad on it because if i do, i might have to go to excel during july but I’m away for the entire month, so i want to make sure i study enough :slight_smile: I’ve taken geometry and algebra 2 this year, can someone tell me the concepts on it?

@chazhang789

From what I’ve heard from IMSA students, the placement test for math will mainly consist of:

  • Algebra I (Make sure that you master this)
  • Algebra II (Make sure that you know this well enough)
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Precalculus
  • Calculus

And so on. There are two sections for the math placement test; the first section will be all of Algebra I and the second section will be above the Algebra I level, so it’s expected for you do not know some things. Hopefully, this helps you out!

hey imsa students, what are the rules as to what you can or can’t hang up in your dorm, like decoration wise?

@brinaz03 thank you so much!

@brinaz03 this website has all the information about IMSA. Go to page 25 for decorations. https://www.imsa.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/2018-2019-Student-Parent-Handook-1.pdf

Thank you @Pentahedrics ! I’ve already taken algebra 2 and geometry and algebra 1, and if i do well in those sections, would i be placed in MI 3? That’s my target math class :slight_smile: I don’t know much precalc and calculus, so i won’t bother studying those

@chazhang789

The MI series mainly consists of topics that are just below the calculus level, so as long as you know everything below the calculus level, you should be able to get into MI - 4 if you study some precalculus or MI - 3 if you don’t. Again, I’m not currently a student at IMSA, but based on the course descriptions that IMSA gives for the MI classes, it’s a close estimation.

Haha thank you again @Pentahedrics . I know many people who got into MI 4 as sophmores, but they’re ridiculously smart and i’m not that smart, I would rather be in a math class that fits my skill levels. Is it possible for us to make a google hangouts chat of admitted students or something? That would be fun
