<p>hey guys currently I'm taking a course called Kinematics and in danger of failing. What happened was that I went to new york during the spring break to renew my passport (I'm a permanent resident). It was quite rainy and windy that day and I ended up getting sick really bad (to the point that my head was spinning and ending up in the bed througout the week). Although I did try my best to study for it, I ended up not being able to write a single thing down on the test paper (was not still healed by that time). As a result, the professor failed my exam miserably (I ended up writing some kind of message on the test paper about why I ended up this way and sent him an email if he'll let me pass the course with C if I do well on the final). The response I got was "I cannot give you any assurances". How should I deal with this? Although it is personally my fault for being sick but it feels frustrating to go through this.</p>

<p>Bad move trying to initiate a grade deal with a prof. The best part of his job is being able to show a little largess to deserving students. Meet him in person and apologize for the ill advised email. Ask him what can be done? With any luck he will cut a deal with you.</p>

<p>@sosomenza well I’m not really trying to make a deal by telling him to let me pass with c if I do well on the final (sorry for the misunderstanding). I asked him “if passing with a grade of C in this class is possible if I do a fabulous job on the upcoming final exam”. I was asking if there is a possibility not a trade. and I did apologize at the end of the email as I don’t want him to get the wrong idea of me being unreasonable.</p>

<p>Study like crazy so that you do really well on the final to demonstrate that you did in fact learn the content. If you can wow the professor with an excellent final, that should really help. Were you in the care of campus health services at all? You could still submit something from them that would show you really were sick and not just making excuses for a bad test after break. Study with classmates, attend office hours if possible, and just do everything to show that you are taking this seriously and EARNING a good final grade.</p>
