In grad school applications should sport/personal activities be mentioned

Hey I am planning to apply for a masters in mechanical engineering

In my essay/personal statement should I discuss sports/hobbies, and personal interests. I didn't compete in NCAA level sports, though I was pretty dedicated to grappling and Judo outside of collegiate organization. Should I mention this at all on a grad school application.

I wasn't planning on doing this, but just wanted to know what other people think. Or if anyone has done this before and they think it helped them out.

cheers

It is not particularly relevant. When I look at graduate applications for the IIT physics program, I want to see good preparation for research and maybe a paragraph about any compelling story the student might have.

No, don’t mention it. It will make you look like you don’t understand graduate admissions.
