I'll have dress rehearsal for my musical on Mar 31, but when I get home around 11 pm, this board had better be hopping with good news. I know it will be.

I have work that day. I tutor (sort of) little kids.... I'm going to be jumpier than they are!!

If we put this much effort into just hoping to get in we should get in. I think that acceptance should be proportional to eagerness.

Well, it is, slightly. Admissions officers can probably sense your passion for Brown in your essays. I mean, if the choice is between a prestige-whore and someone who they can tell loves the school, then they'll take the Brown-lover.

soccart and funkyspoon- thanks! I hope all these good thoughts end up helping (I know they will! :p). I can't wait to be your guys' calssmates next year.

On a different topic, I had my Brown interview yesterday! It went realllllllly well. My interviewer is deifnitely one of the coolest people I have ever met, and she did the impossible: she made me like Brown even more! lol

i used to tutor (sort of) little kids too. haha. Score! Educational Centers.

hehe exactly! Go Kumon! (ehhh... only kind of) lol

LOL I just found a job listing that sounded really cool, and I called about it, and it's at a KUMON center! I hated that place when I was little because my parents forced me to go! lol

You went to Kumon?!! That's so... terrible. lol. Apply for the job, though, and then we can share Kumon stories at Brown next year!

lol I have to... my mom's making me get a job, and tutoring is pretty easy. I take it you went to kumon as well? (or you work there?)

cali, what's kumon?

It's a kind of tutoring center where you can get help with math, except they teach it in a slightly different way.

It's no fun when you're seven/eight years old and all you want to do is play.

I'm seventeen/eighteen years old and all I want to do is play :).

wait wait wait. I wanted to apply to Kumon (since Score shafted me when I moved...kinda. Not enough openings, way too many employees.) But Kumon said they don't hire high school students?? Spill, Dan!

Um... I looked on craigslist.org for a job, and there was one about a tutor/instructional assistant that encouraged high schoolers to apply, so I called (found out it was Kumon), and I'm meeting them on thrusday to apply/for an interview.

Maybe you should try calling again? Because the Kumon near me is definitely willing to hire high schoolers.

craigs list? genius!!!!

Um... it's only the best website ever! At least for finding jobs... lol

In case anyone was wondering, yes there is a cragislist for Providence!
http://providence.craigslist.org/

I work at Kumon. I do Jr. Kumon mostly, which is a lot of fun. 5-year olds who haven't had their naps yet, who want to be anywhere but Kumon. We don't get kooky old men, but we get lots of hovering parents.

Actually, I like it a lot. Helping someone to learn how to read is a formidable task, so I do feel some sense of accomplishment after work each day. My boss and I used to clash (We hit a nadir when she yelled at me for being Caucasian.) but for some, ah, strange reason, she's been a lot nicer to me since she heard I got into Brown. It's kind of disturbing that such a smart woman is really so shallow.

But Kumon is (usually) pretty fun.

Just wondering... how much is the pay? ;)

$7/hr - not great :( i wish i got tips. lol.
