It is with immense pleasure that I write this love note. In the mail today, I received a mysterious, sweet little packet that was soft and small. I jumped for joy, assuming it was a T-shirt. But no, upon opening the package I saw the prettiest little scarf. It was a beautiful burgundy and upon it were the letters that formed "Uchicago". That scarf will not only keep me physically warm during my brutal track season, it also warms my heart. As if the scarf were not enough, I found a handwritten love note!! I swooned with pleasure and excitement at such a demonstration of love. Your love is more than enough to keep me warm during the remaining cold spring days.

Bigcrit, “Rohan” is a UChicago applicant whose Chicago essay, a love letter to the school, was published in the newspapers as archetypal of that sort of creativeness U of C thirsts for.

I’m sorry if you didn’t appreciate my letter, but I just wanted to express my feelings. I wasn’t trying to annoy you. Oh, and thanks for the correction, iDad. What I do find obnoxious is the ones who are using the scarf as a means to rub their acceptance in the face of those who were rejected.

DiamantNoir, I agree.

Do not take it seriously (or even feel that you have to apologize), DiamantNoir–your letter actually lightens a bit of the anxiety. It is true, that the only real ‘obnoxiousness’ is with those who rub in acceptances. It is immensely incredible to know that other U of C admits/students can take things playfully.

Your letter is not at all annoying–it makes the anxious process much less stressful.
And so, thanks!
