In SERIOUS need of advice: BU OR ITHACA?

Hi guys!

So, I was just recently (yesterday) taken off of the waitlist at Boston University for their acting program. I've also already sent in my deposit for Ithaca College's acting program. This is a serious dilemma for me. BU was my top choice school, but I was waitlisted and fell in love with IC. I've always seen myself as more of a city guy then a small town person and was afraid that I might get bored or just frustrated with the weather and tininess of Ithaca. Now that BU accepted me, I'm floored. I can't decide which program is better.

Any help on this decision is greatly appreciated. They're both great programs. I'm looking for one that will network me, give me plenty of opportunities, keep me entertained, and will allow me to maybe focus on some dance stuff as well. I know BU doesn't have a musical theatre program, but would I be able to take some dance classes? Any thoughts from current students, parents, etc? I have to decide by tomorrow afternoon. Yikes!

This message may not answer your question, but here goes.
My daughter is at BU and loves it, my son graduated from Ithaca, from the Park School, in film, loved it, got into a grad program. So both are great choices, and you will need to sleep on it. Each person is different, where different clothes If you have questions, call with them, find out more. You have two great choices, you are very lucky. This is all I know, trust you heart. My son had an equally hard decision, and his stomach told him, what felt right. My daughter went with what felt right, there was one person the day she went back for the accepted students that convinced her…ask the schools questions, and enjoy the ride, you are very fortunate.

Is there a huge difference in price when all is said and done with financial aid and scholarships? What kind of actor do you want to be? BU is a full blown classically based acting conservatory and Ithaca is more of a liberal arts type place that is generally more well regarded for musicals to my knowledge. Does Ithaca have a semester abroad like BU? Why was BU originally your top choice?

If you’re interested in dance, BU definitely has all sorts of dance opportunities. My son is doing the BFA Theatre Arts track at Boston University, and he is minoring in dance.

Thanks guys! I chose BU because of the city and the vibe of the program. Also love that they have connections with the Huntington! Can’t wait!

Congratulations, Ksologist!! Soon you will be a Terrier, and referring to the Huntington and “the Hunt”!

Good for you, congrats, and enjoy the ride
