In state admissions difficulty

We currently reside in Los Angeles. My Business may take us to Delaware. MY d is currently a junior in HS. She wants to finish high school in So Cal. She can stay back with my wife, or sister. I would move to Delaware this summer. From my research, it appears that my daughter will be in state when she starts. Assuming that she will be looked at as an instate applicant, I am trying to find out how selective is it for instate kids. She is barely a 3.2 unweighted GPA, and does not have honor or ap classes. I do not expect her to get great SAT scores.

Can any instate knowledgable folks tell me about her chances.

Thanks

If you go to the UD website (Udel.edu) it has a section for Commitment to Delawarians under the Apply heading. Under the Requiremnets heading it lists in detail what is required for admission for in-state applicants. If she meets these requirements she has an excellent chance of being admitted.

i just looked at the commitment page. I realize that these are guidelines. Do any locals know how much flexibility there is to this. If your GPA is just under, if oyu have a C in one class, if you are missing one of the requirements… How many kids just under the minimums get offered acceptance to the Newark campus. I am looking for some added local knowledge that might shed some additional light.

Thanks

these questions are probably best addressed to an admission counselor at U Del.

I am a high school student in Delaware. Admittedly I attend a private school, so that may make a slight difference, but every in-state student in my class who applied has been admitted to Delaware - even students with Ds on their transcripts. I would look at the high school you daughter will attend’s relationship with UD.

I am from PA. But I will be a freshman at UD in the fall…I have a bunch of friends that live in Delaware and are going to UD. It is very easy to get into if you are in state from what they have said. My one friend got in and he didn’t even have a 3.0 GPA. As long as she keeps up her grades that she has right now, I would say she will be good.

Thanks for the answers. The 3.0 students who got in…What kind of SAT scores did the locals have?
