In state tuition question?

Never posted here before so forgive me if this is the wrong place.

So I moved from California to Virginia two years ago. My parents remain in California and I have been living with my aunt and uncle in this state, and I plan to remain indefinitely. I’ve been working here for two years while going to community college part-time since OOS is expensive. I have joint ownership of a car registered in this state that I make payments on every month. I recently registered to vote, I have a VA driver’s license and I’ve filed VA taxes the past two years. The past two semesters I’ve paid my tuition rates on my own without my parents’ assistance. My aunt and uncle now claim me on their taxes instead of my parents.

Is there anything I can do that can possibly make me eligible for in-state tuition besides this?

You have to look up the definition of an in-state student in Virginia. Often, the residency requirements for in-state tuition are different from the residency requirements for voter registration and driver’s license. Here’s some info from University of Virginia:

Strangely, the in-state rules vary school to school even within the same state. So you need to check this for each of the public VA colleges you’re considering. Good luck
