in state tuition

I was born in VT and lived there for 3 years. We moved to MA and then purchased a vacation home in Vt 3 years ago. Since we pay taxes to the state of VT I am wondering if I can somehow pay instate tuition at UVM. Is this a possibility at all?

No. Your parents would have to be residents of VT for at least a year before you start college. Having a vacation home does not make you a resident for in state tuition purpose.

I answered you on the other thread you started with the same question.

NO…you will not receive instate tuition in Vermont. Your family’s permanent residence is in another state. Vermont has a ton of vacation homes for skiers and the like. Many of them are out of staters like you…NONE of those out of staters with vacation homes get instate tuition in Vermont.

Since we pay taxes to the state of VT

Paying property taxes on a vacation home in another state is NOT the same as “paying taxes to the state.” Real residents pay all sorts of other taxes.

If OOS tuition is too expensive for your family and UVM won’t give you a big scholarship to bring down the price, then you need to consider other schools.

Does UVM award big scholarships for your stats?

Where all do you intend to apply?

How much will your parents spend each year?

What are your stats?
