In the classroom...

On the first day, is everybody trying to make friends before the professor comes in? Do people often talk to you after class just for the sake of talking? Do people talk during class on average(integrating students rather than only the professor speaking)? Are there still people that stand out stereotypically, such as being a nerd? How are lab groups formed on average, and how are labs graded? What goes on besides learning? Just curious.

Relax. Go to class and just go with the flow. this isn't different from the first day of high school! :)

High school? Urghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Haha, it's not as bad as high school. I usually just walk in, pick a seat, say hi to those around me, and just let it go from there. Oh, and no, I don't stay afterwards to mingle...most people have to get to another class right away.

haha good luck with those 100+student lectures.

relax and go with the flow.........

i asked a girl out on the first day of class and got bunch of guys' and girls' number to party...... just relax, smile, say hello/be polite, and just try to have a normal conversation.

Bah, I'm just nervous since it'll be the first time I'll be wearing glasses in school. It's hard to be yourself when you're not, if you know what I mean...

People sometimes talk before class, sometimes not.
After class people generally leave very quickly.
It really depends on the professor and the size of the class as to wether it's more lecture or discussion oriented.
Stereotypes are still there, but less obvious and people don't really care anymore.
Besides learning, generally there's some doodling, daydreaming, text messaging, side-talking, etc. But not too much. Mostly it's learning.

Like everyone else said, just relax. Be yourself. I know for a fact, I would not be able to talk at all after classes this semester. My schedule just isn't set up for me to do that unless it was Tuesday or Thursday.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet. You'll find that nearly everyone just sits quietly, while very few people will talk for the sake of talking. Don't worry about anyone sticking out sterotypically.

... I don't understand how glasses change how you act around other people unless you are Clark Kent. o_O Most people don't even notice when other people change to glasses.

dude. i know what OP's saying. i feel majorly different in my glasses. almost like a different person.
