I'm currently a sophomore at Arizona State as a Business major and my concentration is in Law. I'd like to go to law school when I graduate in about two years, and I won't go to Law school unless I can go to ASU's Law School. I'm just wondering if I'm doing alright, I started out with a 3.0 GPA, brought it up to a 3.25 and will hopefully have it up to a 3.5 after this semester. I am probably going to fail math though, and widthdraw before I do actually fail. Will doing that 1 time effect my chances of getting in? I know ASU is a competitive school but it's not an Ivy League.... I just know I'm going to need to try math again before I get it. I do well in everything else, as well as volunteer work and and I am pretty well-rounded. What are my chances of getting in if I get like a 3.5 and good LSAT score?

With a 3.5 GPA and (at least) one withdrawal on your transcript, you are in bad shape. Although it is still possible for you to break into the T14, it will require a phenomenal LSAT score and a bit of luck. Check out lawschoolnumbers.com to see what you’ll have to do; I’d aim for schools like Georgetown and Duke if I was in your shoes. Better yet, take a practice LSAT and see if law school is even a viable option for you.

Withdrawals are meaningless if you only have one or two.

The OP said he/she wants to go to ASU Law, no mention of T14. A 3.5 is right around the median. With a 160+ LSAT, probably an admit.

I don’t have any interest in going to an Ivy League, I am pretty set in just going to ASU’s Sandra Day O’Conner School of Law. I really like ASU and the faculty/staff/students and don’t want to leave for another school. I want to say they rank top 60 or so of Law Schools around the country, but it is so hard to get answers about questions like admissions out of their faculty! I asked one of my current professors who is a professor at the Law School and all he said was “you get your undergrad, take your LSAT and you’ll get in” but then I see that 200 people enroll and 2500 apply… yeah…

That’s probably because they get turned down by a lot of folks, or perhaps they have a lot of folks applying with very low LSAT scores.

What makes you want to attend that law school? What are your career aspirations?

I am in the same boat. Sophmore at University of Kentucky. Have slightly over a 3.8 here but spent a quarter at a school using quarters system instead of semester. Because of this only a fraction of my hours transferred so I have no idea what my total GPA including that school would be since the grades aren’t located on my transcript (All it says is that I received credit for them). My goal is also the t14 hopefully Georgetown or Cornell

If you don’t mind being a ****LAW lawyer for the rest of your life, your plan sounds fine.
