For an OOS engineering student (likely electrical, but possibly mechanical or computer) who has been awarded full tuition at both UA and UAH, in what academic-related areas does UAH hold the edge? More co-ops and internships? Anything else?

What academic-related areas at UAH are negatives?

I found some articles from a few years ago about the discontent with the direction that the president was taking the school. I see he left. Is UAH back on track with the current leadership?

FWIW, my son is a talented athlete, but has minimal interest in football. He has lots of friends and is well liked, but prefers to stay home and read than hang out, so a deserted campus on the weekend probably wouldn’t bother him.

My younger son is currently in his first year at UAH – and he loves it. He has spoken with several upperclassmen about the opportunities that the school offers. He knows seniors who will graduate and walk across the highway to a near six-figure job in the high tech industry. Many got their starts through co-ops or internships. When we attended freshman orientation last summer, one of the deans remarked that getting an internship or co-op is usually not a problem. In fact, local businesses and industries have more internships (mostly paid, too) than the school has students who need or want them. What a nice problem to have!

Do not count on the Physics department. They are a nightmare. I was a graduate student and now I am leaving.
Professors are never to be found, don’t care about students, can’t be reached for help (even during posted office hours). This was the most disorganized and horrible physics department I’ve ever come across.
Thank you for sharing. While we are looking at UAH for undergrad engineering, it is helpful to read about experiences from any current or former student at the school.
I’m sorry your experience was so bad! I hope your next school is better for you.
I know several people that are in or graduated from UAH engineering and they all say it is really good. And there are a lot of coop and internship opportunities.
