In what order will you check?!

brown, harvard, yale
i feel like that's in descending order of my likelihood of getting accepted, assuming i had any chance at all. actually, the order i find out will probably be random because who knows when web sites and things will be working timely.

Brown
Columbia
Harvard
Cornell (likelied) - for a boost of self confidence after the admissions spanking I just received!!

Wow it is really on 19 days away, and for 11 of those days I don't even have school. So 8 more school days until decisions for me. I love how spring break gives a week to do nothing.
What do you guys think the best strategy for "accelerating" time is? Should it be a countdown or a forget about it and let time pass? If it is the latter than I am going to try to get off this website and just forget about it until the 31st.

From what I can tell there is no discernable pattern. My kid got into Harvard a couple of years ago but was rejected by every other Ivy plus Stanford and MIT. And he had no legacy or "hook" at any of the schools - he's just an average kid.

If he had read his Cornell rejection first because Cornell is percieved as the easiest to get into he would have never mustered the courage to look at the others, including his Harvard acceptance.

1D1G -- thanks for giving me a glimmer of hope; although this year is tougher than 2yrs ago, especially for asian boys. If my S gets into any Ivy, I will sure come back and report.

Dartmouth
Cornell
Harvard

Save the best for last :)

Yale (Stanford if on the same day) then Harvard. Since i had a good interview with Harvard, and an ...interesting no interview situation with yale (so im pretty sure yale is gonna flat out say no)

I didn't get an interview from Harvard or Yale...

Sigh.

I'm writing a script to open 6 windows and refresh then synchronously

I am checking Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, Penn, then Harvard.
Got a likely from Dartmouth so I might as well start it off well!

yale (even though i was already rejected early action, but just in case...)
harvard second because i hate yale
columbia third because i applied there.
cornell last because 'r' comes after 'l'

13 days left

does princeton even have an online thing to check? I thought they just sent out letters.

^ Yes, they do have an online thing.

I will check in this order:

Harvard
Princeton
Yale

It's sort of my prediction of my chances (least likely for Harvard, etc.)

I'm pretty sure they don't. Look at their website - there are only dates for when letters will be sent out.

^ You're wrong. Both Princeton and Yale post decisions on the status check website. Harvard does it by e-mail. And yes, I've looked at their websites, and I know what I'm talking about, thanks.

^ haha, whooooaaaa hookem, chilllll, someone's a bit too anxious for decisions, lol....ok, ok, i can't wait either..haha

11 days....
i got a likely from cornell, i dunno if i should start with that one, or end with it. hopefull that LL means I have a shot at the others

cornell ?
brown
columbia
harvard
cornell ?

collegebound_91 - i got one from dartmouth so im the same way. i have no clue if i want to start with it or end with it. haha

This should be interesting for me, because I actually think I have a greater chance of getting into Harvard and Yale than any other schools. My essays were notably better for those two applications than the essays I wrote for the other schools. Yet, Harvard and Yale have the lowest acceptance rates :-( 'Should be interesting to see how things turn out. I will probably save Harvard for last, because it is one of my two "dream schools." Luckily I got into my other one, Stanford, SCEA. I'll probably check the Yale decision second to last. And it does not really matter in which order I check the other schools.

edit: the best way though, and I've considered it, is to not check online at all. Just wait to see which acceptance packages come in the mail :-P Though, I do not have that sort of patience.

probably:

first: harvard
second: yale
third: penn
fourth: cornell
fifth: dartmouth
sixth: columbia

actually, i have no idea what order i'm going to go in. i'll just pick out of a hat or ask someone to tell me an order to go in. whatever happens, happens. if i'm rejected from all, i'll be happy with where i've been accepted to already (williams early write, nyu stern), and if i'm accepted to some, then i've got a tough decision on my hands.

good luck to you all!
