During the AP test, they make us sign the usual don’t tell anyone, report any cheating, etc. During the AP Chemistry test we had our 10 minute (I think) break with no bathroom/water nearby which he stated no looking at textbooks, consulting teachers, and etc. Usually for AP test at our school, we take it in the gym where there is the bathrooms and water fountain but since there was a bigger AP Environment Science class, they took the gym while we took a room. Our Procter let us out to use the bathroom but we would have to travel a far distance which would be away from Procter eyes and supervision. A couple students went to our AP Chem teachers classroom for food but they could have looked at a textbook/asked questions/chemistry material and etc which is against the break rules. I don’t know if this as cheating, is this misconduct?
Another incident was during the AP US History test. During our FRQ’s, 2 phones rang during the test and the proctors said for those people to silence their phones. They never told those people to turn off their phones, but to just silence it and they didn’t take the phones from them. Are these incidents an account of misconduct?
Our school has a bad rep with collegeboard. I remember last year, the Procter just sat at his desk in the front of the gym and didn’t move at all. There was an 2 seats per-table but one person per table. I remember people had their snacks on the extra seat but someone could have had a cheat sheet and the Procter would never know. I know I can’t do anything about those tests but stating a bad testing session.
With the new structure of the AP Chemistry and APUSH exams, any notes or “cheat sheets” would be practically useless. In the unlikely event that a student was attempting to cheat, he or she was and is likely to end up with a poor score.
The phone ringing is a different story. That is highly distracting, and there is a limited amount of time. Those students should have been dismissed immediately.
The students weren’t dismissed. They continued the tests until the end.
Exams are free at my school this year but you “have to” take them if you’re taking the class. It’s not really misconduct but there’s been a movement among some seniors where they basically spend like the first ten minutes circling in or writing random stuff then sleep the rest of the time. Don’t really understand this. It’s a free chance to earn college credit and why sit there for three hours doing nothing.
How do I report misconduct?
